Shamáti Willemse is a young and enthusiastic harpist and she keeps being fascinated by the feeling on her fingers on the strings and the sounds which she can produce by that.
The first time she came in contact with the harp was during an open doors day of a music school. There she played for the first time on a harp and started at the age of 8 with harp lessons by Wenda Vlieger.
In 2019 she made the switch from a lever harp to a pedal harp and did a successful audition for the Young KC Program of the Royal Conservatory The Hague. In 2020 she went to the pre-bachelor of the ArtEZ University of the Arts in Zwolle and a year later she did there audition for the bachelor when she was only sixteen years old. She was accepted by an unanimous vote and is at the moment studying there under the supervision of Manja Smits. Regularly there she also receives masterclasses from Masumi Nagasawa and she followed masterclasses by Miriam Overlach, Sylvain Blassel and Gesine Dreyer.
Shamáti plays regularly in music competitions, under which the Jong Talent Concours Maassluis, Prinses Christina Concours and Rosa Spier Harp Concours. During the 6th edition from the Rosa Spier Harp Concours in 2022, Shamáti won in the highest category the incentive price and the price for the best mandatory work performed. On the 7th edition in 2024 of this competition she won the second price in the same category. During the Prinses Christina Concours of 2024 Shamáti played in the regional finals and received the second price.
She loves playing together and chamber music and forms several ensembles with different instrument combinations. With Duo Allegra, consisting of soprano and harp, she plays regularly in care centers in cooperation with Stichting Stroopwafelconcerten.
Beside that she plays in orchestra’s who need a harpist to extent their instrumentation. This last year she played in Jeugdsymfonieorkest de Vuurvogel, HanzeOrkest Zwolle, Oost-Gelders Symfonieorkest, Zwols Symfonie Orkest en Symfonia Jong Twente. At this moment Shamáti plays as the principal harpist by the VKSO Orchestra.
As a solist Shamáti played among other things during the opening night of Raalte 900 the Harp Concerto in B flat major from Georg Friedrich Händel, accompanied by a string quintet.
With her playing Shamáti wants to share her love for the harp en music with the listener. All the fees of her concerts go the her dream to one day own her own harp. At this moment she plays on a lease harp.
